ISO 9001 Internal Audit

The internal audit is required for ISO 9001 certification under clause 8.2.2. in order to determine whether the quality management system:

  • Meets the ISO 9001 requirements
  • Meets the organization’s QMS requirements
  • Meets the planning of product realization
  • Is effectively implemented and maintained

The organization needs to plan the internal audit program.

The audit criteria, scope, frequency, and methods needs to be defined in the internal audit procedure.

The internal auditors must be trained, competent, and cannot audit their own work.

They must also record the audit results, which are then maintained according to the control of records procedure.

If any nonconformity issues are found during the internal audit, the company is responsible to immediately make any necessary corrections to rectify the non conformities and their causes.
