How do you contribute to quality?

As a quality professional, I contribute to quality in various ways:

  • I’ve worked in the quality assurance/ quality control field for the past 14 years. I started as a quality technician and was promoted along the way to group quality system manager.
  • I promote green concepts of quality, focusing on efficient use of material and enhancing environmental performance by applying green productivity tools, such as ISO 14051.
  • I coach and share experiences with young professionals looking to advance their career in the quality field.
  • I organized quality related talks at universities and related industry associations.
  • I serve as an ASQ recertification reviewer and ASQ Malaysia LMC secretary.
  • I serve as a taskforce member for the Malaysia Productivity Corp. (MPC) to initiate and promote material flow cost accounting (MFCA) to Malaysia industry.
  • I jointly developed the MFCA Training Manual for MPC.

 

 

What do you hope to accomplish during your times as a member leader?

As elected country counselor since July 2011, I’m committed to enhancing ASQ membership value locally and establishing the ASQ Malaysia LMC. As elected Country Counselor since July 2011, I’m committed to enhancing ASQ membership value locally and establishing the ASQ Malaysia LMC. Since the establishment of the ASQ Malaysia LMC core team, we have organized ASQ member gatherings in several major Malaysian cities, including Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru; published an ASQ LMC bulletin; and jointly organized the “Future of Quality and Lean Sigma” event with the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers Institute.

 

We’re planning to hold more value-added activates for ASQ members in the future, such as regional quality talks or sharing sessions, observation trips to quality-award-winning companies and participating in an upcoming International Convention on Quality Control Circles
